CWA Prepares for AT&T Bargaining
Monday, 16 February 2009

CWA Bargaining Committees representing the six major (Core) bargaining units at AT&T met in St. Louis last week in preparation for bargaining that gets underway Feb. 24.  Discussions focused on evolving technology in the industry and how that affects jobs, training and education for workers. The 50 participants also joined in a presentation and discussion on health care.

Information was also shared on a plan to coordinate efforts for bargaining among the six core contracts to be ready to deal with national issues that effect the entire rank and file at AT&T. This was the first joint meeting of the major units and forged a positive strategy to deal with AT&T in bargaining. It will be up to CWA Members from across the county to demonstrate our unity in the workplace.

CWA Executive Vice President Annie Hill discussed current bargaining and mobilization at AT&T Mobility, and stressed the importance of unity in bargaining both at Mobility and the core contracts.

CWA bargaining teams will be negotiating new contracts covering 125,000 at six separate bargaining units: AT&T East (SNET), AT&T Southeast (BellSouth), AT&T Midwest (Ameritech), AT&T Southwest (SBC), AT&T West (PacBell) and the National AT&T Legacy T group.

We will only receive what we are prepared to fight and sacrifice for. Current and retired CWA Members are encouraged to join Local 3250’s mobilization network by contacting our Mobilization Chair at . Wear Red on Thursdays and be part of our growing number of dedicated brothers and sisters who will be fighting for a fair and just contract for all CWA Members’.

One Union, One Fight, One Future.

In unity,

Roy Hegenbart
President
Local 3250
